New Delhi, September 30: It was a golden day for Indian javelin at the IndianOil New Delhi 2025 World Para Athletics Championships, held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

In the F44 category, Sandip Sanjay Sargar and Sandeep Choudhary clinched gold and silver, followed by a stellar performance from Sumit, who struck gold with a championship record in the F64 event. A day earlier, Rinku and Sundar Singh Gurjar had also secured gold and silver in the F46 category, marking an exceptional run for India.

The atmosphere reached new heights when Neeraj Chopra, Tokyo Olympic gold medallist and Paris 2024 silver medallist, arrived at the stadium during Sumit’s event. His surprise appearance created a buzz among media and spectators alike, reigniting the crowd’s energy.

Neeraj praised the Indian para-athletes, calling their efforts “remarkable,” and urged fans to show greater support.

“Life is already challenging for these para-athletes, and yet they compete at the highest level. More people should come and watch these extraordinary athletes in action,” he said.

Also present in the stands was rising javelin star Sachin Yadav. When asked if he had any advice for the youngster, Neeraj humbly replied,

“He’s already doing very well. I think he knows what it takes.”

The day underscored not only India’s dominance in para-javelin but also the unifying power of sport, amplified by the presence of its brightest stars.
