New Delhi, September 4, 2025 : Cricket icon Yuvraj Singh officially launched the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) Tour — India’s first professional golf tour to feature both men and women competing on a unified platform — at a grand ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency, New Delhi.
The groundbreaking multi-city IGPL Tour will begin on September 10 at the Chandigarh Golf Club, and aims to transform the Indian golf ecosystem through inclusive competition, structured pathways for professional growth, and grassroots talent development.
The launch event saw the presence of key dignitaries from the golfing world, including Uttam Singh Mundy (CEO, IGPL), Cho Minn Thant (Tour Commissioner/CEO, Asian Tour), Champika Sayal (General Secretary, WGAI), Romit Bose (President, PGAI), Shiv Kapur, and SSP Chawrasia, both serving as IGPL Icon Players.
“Golfers often struggle financially early in their careers. IGPL offers a new structure where young players can focus on their game, not just survival. This tour, followed by the fast-paced IGPL League, can redefine Indian golf just like IPL did for cricket,” said Yuvraj Singh, IGPL Co-Founder.
Strategic Partnerships and Global Vision
At the launch, IGPL announced a landmark partnership with the Asian Tour, allowing IGPL players to participate in the Asian Tour-sanctioned event in India this November at Kensville Golf & Country Club.
“A strong domestic circuit is vital for progression in golf. This partnership opens doors for Indian players on international platforms,” said Uttam Singh Mundy, CEO, IGPL.

Driving Olympic Dreams and Grassroots Growth
IGPL is building a comprehensive ecosystem that supports long-term athlete development and Olympic readiness. It has partnered with:

- Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) to promote women’s golf
- Schools and universities to nurture grassroots talent
Additionally, the IGPL Player Equity Pool was announced, offering players ownership stakes in partner startups, backed by collaborations with global VCs and incubators.
The IGPL Board and Governing Council will be officially unveiled in November 2025.
