New Delhi, September 10, 2025 — In a major step towards improving road safety in India, Zomato and Uber have joined hands with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to support the national initiative Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan. The partnership aims to raise awareness and drive behavioral change among millions of drivers, riders, and delivery partners across the country.
The collaboration was officially announced in New Delhi in the presence of Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and Shri Prasoon Joshi, noted writer and conceptualiser of the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan. Also present were Aditya Mangla, CEO of Zomato, and Sooraj Nair, Head of Safety Operations, Uber India & South Asia.
Driving Safety Through Technology and Scale
The campaign is designed to promote responsible road behavior by leveraging the reach and influence of Zomato and Uber. Both companies are integrating safety messaging across their platforms, targeting users and partners at scale:
- Zomato will embed road safety prompts in its delivery partner and customer apps, and continue daily safety briefings, helmet checks, and SOS support for partners.
- Uber is rolling out a new Road Safety Pledge, along with tech-driven features like Speeding Alerts, Dangerous Driving Notifications, and AI-powered helmet checks. Riders will also receive seatbelt reminders and have access to an in-app SOS button linked to police control rooms.
A Shared Commitment to Safer Roads
Speaking at the launch, Minister Gadkari emphasized the urgency of road safety, saying:
“Road safety is among our nation’s most critical priorities. We welcome the support of companies like Zomato and Uber, whose collaboration helps extend this message to millions of Indians in their daily journeys.”
