New Delhi, 10th October 2025: Legendary nine-time Olympic gold medallist Carl Lewis, serving as the International Event Ambassador for the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon (VDHM) 2025, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming World Athletics Gold Label Road Race and underscored the event’s broader social impact.
At a press conference in New Delhi, Lewis highlighted how VDHM is more than just a race — it’s a symbol of breaking barriers and fostering unity through sport.
“Breaking barriers is at the heart of what the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon represents. When amateurs run alongside Olympic champions, it shows how running can unite people from all walks of life. It’s about inclusion, perseverance, and the power to ignite change with every step,” said Lewis.

Offering advice to young athletes, Lewis emphasized the importance of sacrifice, discipline, and long-term vision:
“Success requires giving up short-term pleasures for long-term goals. I skipped parties and stayed focused because greatness demands it. Don’t chase instant gratification — stay committed to your dream.”
Carl Lewis’s Olympic legacy — spanning four Games and nine gold medals — continues to inspire athletes worldwide. His historic performances, including matching Jesse Owens’ 1936 feat in 1984 and setting records in subsequent Olympics, solidify his place as one of the greatest athletes in history.
With thousands of participants expected across multiple race categories, VDHM 2025 will start from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on 12th October, offering runners a scenic route through Delhi’s iconic landmarks, including Lodhi Gardens and India Gate.
As Carl Lewis returns to inspire yet another generation, the 2025 edition promises to further elevate India’s vibrant running culture and celebrate the enduring spirit of endurance sport.
