Gaganjeet Bhullar Creates History, Wins Inaugural IGPL Invitational at Chandigarh Golf Club

Chandigarh, Sep 12, 2025 : Indian golfing ace Gaganjeet Bhullar etched his name in the history books by becoming the first-ever IGPL Invitational Champion, clinching victory with a composed final-round 2-under 70 at the Chandigarh Golf Club. With rounds of 70-71-70 for a total of 5-under 211, Bhullar secured a two-shot win over M Dharma.

A seasoned campaigner with 11 Asian Tour titles—more than any other Indian—Bhullar relied on early momentum and late composure to claim the title and take home the winner’s cheque of ₹22.5 lakhs from the ₹1.5 crore prize purse.

M Dharma, who carded a brilliant 4-under 68 on the final day, finished second at 3-under and earned ₹15 lakhs. The trio of Veer Ganapathy, Kartik Sharma, and Shaurya Binu shared third place and pocketed approximately ₹8.7 lakhs each.

The 54-player field included top Indian pros, rising stars, women professionals, and amateurs. Among the standouts were left-handed debutant Veer Ganapathy (72-72-70), southpaw Kartik Sharma (73-73-68), and Shaurya Binu (69-72-73), who had held the lead for the first 36 holes.

Only seven players finished under par on a course made more challenging by recent rains. Notable performances included 4-under 68s from Dharma, Sharma, and Sunhit Bishnoi.

Among the women, Jahanvi Bakshi was the top performer, finishing 19th overall with rounds of 73-71-75 on her return to competitive golf after two years of injury setbacks.

IGPL CEO Uttam Singh Mundy called the event the beginning of a “New Era in Golf,” praising Bhullar as the ideal icon for the Tour. “Gaganjeet is a worthy winner and will inspire many young stars,” he said. “It’s also encouraging to see young pros like Veer, Kartik Singh, Krish Chawla, and Raghav Chugh rise to the occasion.”

Bhullar expressed pride in winning the inaugural event, calling it “a new chapter in Indian golf” and emphasized the importance of mentoring upcoming players. “I hope to inspire the next generation, just like I was inspired by legends like Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa, and Arjun Atwal,” he said.

The next IGPL event is scheduled for September 17–19, 2025, at Jaypee Greens, Greater Noida.
