New Delhi – Showcasing German engineering, clean energy innovation and sustainable technologies, the German Pavilion at Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 highlighted the growing opportunities for collaboration between India and Germany in accelerating the global energy transition.

The German Pavilion represented an opportunity to bring German expertise and technological capabilities closer to India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy market. With both countries committed to advancing clean energy, improving energy efficiency and strengthening sustainable industrial development, the pavilion offered a platform to highlight the potential of bilateral partnerships.

Mr Gottfried von Gemmingen, Head of Division, Economic Cooperation & Development, Embassy of the Republic of Germany spoke to Pritam Arora, Editor-in-Chief, Times Today.
“This event is a major landmark event, conference and exhibition of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Germany is proud to be a country partner. Two years ago the predecessor event was Re-Invest and it was organized in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The Germany was very closely collaborating with MNRE revitalize Re-Invest and we had at that time Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development attended it and he launched India-Germany platform on investment in renewable energy worldwide two years ago and yesterday we were able to showcase already first results of partnering Indian and German business associations in the field of solar, wind, energy storage and Bio-gas for example. So, we were happy to follow it up and it’s a continuity that we started in Gandhinagar two years ago and now we document progress.”

Replying to the question of “your future plan? and how do you see India and German Relationship” he replied “on the one hand we are steadfast partner of India. We are collaborating in the field of energy within the German Development cooperation for almost 60 years. Of course, several decades in the field of fossil energy, coal and waste power plants and more energy efficiency. Twenty years ago, we founded the Indo-German Forum, where we celebrated yesterday’s 20th Anniversary. So, we are partners in transition”.

Germany has long been recognised for its engineering capabilities, industrial innovation and commitment to sustainable development. Its energy transition, commonly known as Energiewende, offers valuable experience in integrating renewable energy into electricity systems, improving energy efficiency and developing technologies that support decarbonisation.
