Shweta Sehrawat’s explosive unbeaten 75 sets up South Delhi’s commanding victory in the Delhi Premier League 2026
New Delhi, August 28, 2026: South Delhi Superstarz Women delivered a dominant all-round performance to storm to a comprehensive 60-run victory over East Delhi Riders Women in the women’s leg of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday.
Batting first, South Delhi Superstarz posted an imposing 179/6 in 20 overs, recording the highest total of the ongoing edition of the tournament. The innings was built around a sensational unbeaten knock from captain Shweta Sehrawat, who produced a breathtaking display of power-hitting.
The left-hander remained unbeaten on 75 off just 36 balls, smashing eight fours and four sixes as she dismantled the East Delhi bowling attack. Sehrawat’s aggressive strokeplay ensured South Delhi maintained a high scoring rate throughout the innings and finished with a formidable total.
She found able support from Tanisha Singh, who struck a brisk 40 off 27 deliveries, including six boundaries. Wicketkeeper-batter Nishika Singh added a valuable 29 off 26 balls, while Tanishqa Singh and Ekta Bhadana chipped in with 10 and 8 respectively to keep the scoreboard moving during the crucial middle and death overs.
For East Delhi Riders, Parunika Sisodia was the most successful bowler, finishing with figures of 2/23 from four overs. Simran Bahadur, Purva Siwach and Bharti Rawal claimed one wicket each, but the bowling attack struggled to contain Sehrawat and South Delhi’s scoring surge.
Needing 180 for victory, East Delhi Riders never quite managed to establish the partnerships required for a successful chase. They were eventually restricted to 119/8 in 20 overs, handing South Delhi a comfortable 60-run win.
Simran Bahadur and Purva Siwach were East Delhi’s joint top scorers, both making 25. Bahadur struck her runs from 20 balls, while Siwach faced 19 deliveries. Pragya Rawat contributed 20 off 26 balls, but East Delhi’s scoring rate remained well below the required mark.
South Delhi’s bowlers kept the pressure firmly on the Riders throughout the chase. Disha Nagar emerged as the standout performer with an impressive 3/25 in four overs, while Himakshi Choudhary complemented her brilliantly with figures of 2/20.
Kashish and Mayuri Singh also chipped in with a wicket apiece as South Delhi repeatedly broke East Delhi’s momentum and prevented any late acceleration.
With wickets falling at regular intervals and the required run rate continuing to climb, East Delhi were unable to mount a serious challenge in the closing stages. South Delhi ultimately sealed a convincing 60-run victory.
The win was set up by an outstanding batting performance from captain Sehrawat, whose unbeaten half-century-plus knock provided the perfect platform before the bowlers completed the job.
