New Delhi, September 4, 2026: The wait is finally over for fans of one of India’s most popular crime-drama franchises. Mirzapur: The Movie has arrived in cinemas today, taking the intense world of Mirzapur from the streaming screen to theatres.

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, the film brings back several of the franchise’s most recognisable characters, including Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi. The movie is presented as a new chapter in the Mirzapur universe, centred on power, revenge, blood debts and the continuing battle for control of the city’s underworld.

The film features a large ensemble cast led by some of the original series’ most popular performers.

    • Pankaj Tripathi as Akhandanand Tripathi, popularly known as Kaleen Bhaiya
    • Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit
    • Divyenndu Sharma as Munna Tripathi
    • Ravi Kishan as Babban/Babua
    • Jitendra Kumar as Bablu Pandit
    • Rasika Dugal as Beena Tripathi
    • Shweta Tripathi as Golu Gupta
    • Shriya Pilgaonkar as Sweety Gupta
    • Abhishek Banerjee as Compounder
    • Harshita Gaur as Dimpy Pandit
    • Anangsha Biswas as Zarina
    • Sheeba Chaddha
    • Rajesh Tailang
    • Sushant Singh
    • Mohit Malik
    • Kulbhushan Kharbanda
    • Pramod Pathak
    • Sonal Chauhan

The returning cast is one of the film’s biggest attractions, particularly the reunion of Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu in their iconic roles.

What Is Mirzapur: The Movie About?

Rather than simply retelling the events of the web series, the film presents a new chapter from the Mirzapur universe. Its central conflict once again revolves around the fight for power and the coveted throne of Mirzapur.

Old enemies return, rivalries intensify and unresolved blood debts come back into focus. The story promises the combination of action, crime, dark drama and political manoeuvring that audiences have come to expect from the franchise.

A Big-Screen Return for the Mirzapur Universe

The theatrical release represents a significant step for the franchise. After building a massive following through its streaming run, Mirzapur is now making its first major theatrical outing.

The film has received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification and has a reported runtime of approximately 3 hours and 17 minutes. It is releasing in cinemas in Hindi and Telugu.

With its original stars returning, a familiar world of gangsters and power politics, and Gurmmeet Singh directing the cinematic chapter, Mirzapur: The Movie is positioned as one of the major Hindi releases of September 2026.

For longtime followers, the biggest question is whether the larger theatrical canvas can recreate the raw intensity and “bhaukaal” that made the original franchise a pop-culture phenomenon. With Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Tripathi back in the game, the battle for Mirzapur has officially moved to the big screen.
