Mumbai: National Film Development Corporation announced that the 19th edition of the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) will be held from 15th to 21st June, 2026, at the FD-NFDC Complex, 24 Pedder Road, Mumbai – 400 026.
Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary, Short Fiction and Animation Films, which began in 1990, is the oldest and largest film festival for non-feature films in South Asia. Held once every two years, MIFF is attended by a number of prominent documentary, short fiction and animation filmmakers from India and other parts of the world. In 18th MIFF, 350+ films from 30+ countries were showcased. These included films in International and National Competitions, globally celebrated and award-winning films, special packages, restored classics, retrospectives, and many other curated sections comprising of films from different parts of the world.
MIFF provides a platform for documentary, short and animation filmmakers from all over the world to meet, exchange ideas and explore possibilities for collaborations, co-productions and marketing. MIFF not only recognizes best talents in documentary, short fiction and animation films by presenting Golden, Silver Conches and Trophies, but it also gives away handsome cash awards of Rs.55 lakhs in different categories. The highest and most prestigious award in MIFF, i.e. the Best Documentary Film of the Festival, carries a Golden Conch and cash prize of Rs.10 Lakhs while other awards carry Silver Conch / Trophies and cash awards varying from Rupees one Lakh to five Lakhs.

MIFF 2026 will also feature the 2nd edition of WAVES Doc Bazaar which will be held from 16th to 18th June 2026. With verticals such as Co-production Market, Viewing Room and Work in Progress Lab, Waves Doc Bazaar aims to be the converging point for buyers and sellers of non-feature films from all over the world. The focus will be on discovering, supporting and showcasing documentary content and talent in filmmaking, production and distribution. The call for entries for various verticals of Waves Doc Bazaar will be announced soon on MIFF website.
