New Delhi, May 07, 2026: The National School of Drama (NSD) Repertory, the performing wing of NSD, is set to host its annual Summer Theatre Festival from 08 May to 14 June 2026 with 26 shows and 10 plays of different genres and performing styles. The festival will open with the Repertory’s latest theatrical production Aks Tamasha, directed by acclaimed theatre director Shri Bhanu Bharati.

The announcement was made at a press conference today held in the NSD premise. Speaking of the occasion, Shri Chittaranjan Tripathy, Director, NSD, said: “After the unprecedented success of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2026, the NSD Summer Theatre Festival is another significant theatrical extravaganza for drama enthusiasts. Showcasing 10 acclaimed productions, each infused with fresh creative energy by our artists, Delhi’s cultural temperature is set to rise. We hope audiences will make it as successful as last year.”

The opening day play Aks Tamasha, Aks-Tamasha is originally the Hindi adaptation of the renowned Kannada play “Seeri Simpige” by Jnana Pitha awardee playwright Dr. Chandrasekhar B. Kambar, translated by the veteran theatre stalwart Prof. Ram Gopal Bajaj. The play explores illusion and truth through a folk-tale–like narrative, using twin characters to parody and reflect its themes. It blends ritualistic elements with contemporary theatre to communicate complex ideas to modern audiences.

The other plays to be featured in the festival include Bayen, Taj Mahal Ka Tender, Bandi Gali Ka Akhri Makan, Mai Ri Main Ka Se Kahun, Tamas, Andha Yug, Babuji, Aadhe Adhure and Samudra Manthan.

Audiences can avail the tickets for witnessing the shows online from the BookMyShow web portal.

During this 38-day celebration of the NSD Repertory Summer Theatre Festival, the NSD Repertory artists will also tour Rajasthan’s capital city, Jaipur, to perform the plays Aadhe Adhure and Tamas.

The closing day of the festival, on 14 June 2026, will feature the play Samudra Manthan, written by Shri Asif Ali and designed, composed the music for, and directed by Shri Chittaranjan Tripathy.
