IGPL Invitational Tees Off in Chandigarh: A New Era for Indian Golf Begins
Chandigarh, September 9, 2025 — Indian golf witnessed a landmark moment as the inaugural IGPL Invitational kicked off today at the Chandigarh Golf Club, ushering in a dynamic new chapter for the sport. Blending elite professionalism with inclusivity, the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) introduces a groundbreaking format — featuring men, women, and top amateurs competing together — with a prize purse of ₹1.5 crore per event.
Spanning 11 events through December, the IGPL aims to revolutionize the Indian golf landscape with a progressive, innovative, and entertainment-driven approach.
“This is not just a golf tour — it’s a celebration of the sport,” said Uttam Singh Mundy, IGPL CEO and former pro. “For the first time globally, men and women pros will compete for the same purse. Our mission is to grow golf holistically — from grassroots to global.”
Top Stars, Bold Formats
Leading the field is Gaganjeet Bhullar, India’s most successful golfer on the Asian Tour, who hailed the IGPL as a long-awaited innovation:
“The format gives you the vibe of the European or PGA Tour. I’m thrilled it’s starting at my home course,” said Bhullar, who also announced a $100,000 donation to Khalsa Aid for Punjab flood relief.
Joining him are established pros like Aadil Bedi, who pledged to donate 100% of his winnings to flood relief efforts, and Neha Tripathi, a veteran from the Women’s Golf Association of India:
“Playing alongside male pros brings learning, competition, and great camaraderie. The buzz around IGPL is real,” said Tripathi.
Other marquee players in the field include Amandeep Drall, Seher Atwal, C Muniyappa, Chiragh Kumar, Gaurav Ghei, and many more.
Platform for Rising Stars
The event also marks the professional debuts of Kartik Singh and Veer Ganapathy, alongside a strong field of top Indian amateurs, including:
- Mannat Brar, reigning All-India Amateur Champion and R&A standout
- Harjai Milkha Singh and Zorawar Randhawa, sons of Indian legends Jeev Milkha Singh and Jyoti Randhawa
