Central Delhi Kings Storm to Nine-Wicket Win Over New Delhi Tigers in Rain-Shortened DPL Clash

New Delhi, August 11, 2026: Central Delhi Kings produced a commanding all-round performance to register a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over New Delhi Tigers in a rain-curtailed Delhi Premier League (DPL) encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday.

With the match reduced to 18 overs per side, the New Delhi Tigers put up an imposing total of 185/8 after being asked to bat first. However, Central Delhi Kings responded in emphatic fashion, chasing down the target with ease to underline their dominance in the contest.

Himmat Singh Leads Tigers’ Charge

New Delhi Tigers got off to an aggressive start, with captain Himmat Singh leading from the front. The right-hander smashed a quickfire 46 off just 21 balls, taking the attack to the Central Delhi Kings bowlers and providing the momentum needed in the shortened format.

Keshav Dalal Singh offered valuable support with a composed 39 off 31 deliveries, while Manish Sehrawat provided the late acceleration with an impressive 37 off 19 balls.

Despite the Tigers’ strong batting effort, Central Delhi Kings kept the pressure on by picking up wickets at regular intervals. Gavnish Khurana emerged as the standout bowler, finishing with excellent figures of 3/36 from his four overs.

The regular breakthroughs prevented New Delhi Tigers from finishing even stronger, although their total of 185/8 remained a challenging target in an 18-over chase.

Dhull and Joon Launch Stunning Chase

Central Delhi Kings approached the chase with intent from the very beginning. Captain Yash Dhull and opener Siddharth Joon tore into the Tigers’ bowling attack, putting together a spectacular 126-run opening partnership.

Dhull was particularly destructive, producing one of the most explosive knocks of the match. He smashed 76 off just 28 balls, with his innings featuring eight sixes and six fours. His breathtaking assault put the Tigers’ bowlers under immense pressure and gave Central Delhi Kings complete control of the chase.

Although Dhull eventually departed, the damage had already been done.

Joon continued the onslaught, joining forces with Yugal Saini to ensure there was no late twist in the contest. The pair added another 50-run partnership, keeping the required run rate comfortably within reach.

Joon saved his best for the finish, remaining unbeaten on a sensational 83 off 34 balls. His innings ensured that Central Delhi Kings never allowed the Tigers back into the game.

Kings Complete Comprehensive Victory

With wickets in hand and the asking rate firmly under control, Central Delhi Kings completed the chase comfortably to secure a nine-wicket victory.

The result was a complete team performance from the Kings. Khurana’s three-wicket haul restricted the Tigers from converting their strong start into an even bigger total, while Dhull and Joon’s breathtaking opening stand effectively decided the match during the chase.

For New Delhi Tigers, Himmat Singh, Keshav Dalal Singh and Manish Sehrawat made important contributions with the bat, but their efforts were ultimately overshadowed by Central Delhi Kings’ relentless batting display.

The rain-shortened encounter belonged to the Kings from start to finish, with their explosive top-order batting and disciplined bowling combining to produce a convincing DPL victory at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
